Great Wolf Getaway

At the beginning of the summer, we decided to go ahead and schedule a family trip ("last trip as a family of four" sorta thing) and found that the Great Wolf Lodge really dropped their rates the first week of school.  So, that ended up being a great time for us and on Sunday, August 25th we headed to Grapevine after church.

Naps in the car

Checking out our room
The girls LOVED these bunk beds and their own little "Kid Kamp" area

Checking out the hotel...

This is the indoor water park.  It's huge!

Moving on to the arcade

It was getting close to dinner, so we headed to Grapevine Mills mall and ate at The Rainforest Cafe

Before we left a lady came and made the girls balloon butterflies...

We shopped until close to 6:30 then headed back to the hotel.

Back at the hotel, we each got a treat from Bear Paw's sweet stop and ate them in our room before we gave the girls quick baths.

Checking out a treasure chest...

They were having a Story Time at 8:00, so we took the girls in their pajamas...

Back in the room they were almost too excited to go to sleep!  Plus, this was the first time Eden slept in an open bed.  She did great though, once the giggling stopped and they went to sleep (an hour or so later!)

The next morning the girls woke up around 7:30 and we ate breakfast in the room then got ready to head to the water park.

about 39 inches

The indoor water park really was awesome and it was so nice not having to worry about sunscreen.  They had a great toddler area that both the girls loved.

Especially these slides!
Eden's first time on the slide...

And Macy's...

Another part of the toddler area...

Heading over to the wave pool...

Back to the slides

Eden started going down on her tummy

Macy too

Helping sister up the stairs...

Playing with Daddy

We ate lunch at the water park then headed upstairs to change.  Great Wolf has this really neat activity for kids called MagiQuest; you follow the clues and find different items on all 8 floors of the hotel.  Ours were probably still a little young to get the full benefit of it, but we thought Macy might enjoy it.  Plus, she got her very own pink wand!  The wand activated things all around the hotel and she thought this was so fun!  We decided I would stay in the room and let Eden get her nap (and Mommy took one too!) while Daddy got to spend the whole afternoon with Macy doing the "Quest".

She pointed it at these squirrels and they started swinging in the tree

Sweet Eden... we ended up just getting her a little plastic wand from the gift shop so she felt included.  Not sure if she ever caught on that hers didn't have the "power" like Macy's:)

Eden and I headed up for naps at this point.

Macy typically still naps, but we thought this would be a fun activity for her to do with Daddy.  (And we were hoping to wear her out so she would go on to sleep that night!) He took some pictures of their afternoon together...

Taking a break to drink some strawberry milk...

Daddy and Macy came back to the room after Eden woke up around 4:30.

We headed to eat at Fuddruckers, just down the road.

The girls got these Princess tattoos at Fuddruckers...

We headed back down to the water park after dinner at Fuddruckers and stayed until 8:00ish...

Our checkout time was at 11:00 on Tuesday morning, so we decided not to go back to the water park and have to pack wet clothes for such a short time.  They were doing Story Time again in the lobby and the girls stopped to watch it from this "tree house".

Then we spent some time in the arcade.

And after that, we headed down the road to a Bass Pro and looked around for a bit...

Mommy had a special surprise in store for Macy.  Great Wolf has a girls' spa called Scoops that is decorated with ice cream cones.  I had booked us a Mommy and Me pedicure at 11:00.

And Eden got to finish Macy's Quest with Daddy (and use the real wand:)

Getting pampered
(I may have created a monster!)

Loved spending this time with my big girl!

After checking out, we headed to a Pei Wei for lunch then hit the road.  The girls were exhausted!!

A close-up of Eden's tattoo when we got home...

We had so much fun and hope to visit Great Wolf again!!

Peasant Dresses

I just finished making all 3 girls their first set of matching dresses!  I found this peasant dress tutorial online that was super easy.  I started with Sadie's and by the time I got to Macy's, I was able to knock hers out in about 45 minutes.

Here's the tutorial:

Be sure and read the comments at the bottom because she answered some of the questions I had.

My big girls modeled theirs for me.  I'm thinking about making a sash for each one like I had tied onto Eden's...

Storytime

Last Tuesday, we met our friends Jennifer and Cooper at Panera Bread for storytime.  I had heard about it, but this was our first time to try it.  The girls loved it!

Park

A few weeks ago we headed to Bullard Park to play for a bit.  We had a little break in the hot weather and the mornings were actually manageable to be outside!

Afterwards, we met Daddy at Newks and then had some ice cream at Orange Leaf.  Daddy is only working half day Fridays, so we were all able to go home together:)

Gowns

Macy has been eyeing this princess fabric at Hobby Lobby for a while now so I finally decided to make them some gowns to sleep in...

Mommy/Daddy Getaway

On August 13th, Grammy came over early and Josh and I headed to Austin to spend two days together without our sweet little ones.  We typically try to do some kind of overnight trip during the summer since our anniversary is in June.  Josh had to be in Austin for work anyway, so I decided to tag along.  Grammy ambitiously took the girls to see Great-Nana, went to Discovery Science Place and even attempted Chuck E. Cheese.  I know the girls had a blast!

Josh and I were hoping to be in Austin by lunch but got stuck in some really awful traffic right outside Waco.  Apparently a truck caught fire and they completely shut down southbound traffic on I35.  We detoured and ended up not getting to his Austin (actually Pflugerville) office until around 1:30.  We drove through Chick-fil-A and ate at his office.  Then I headed to the Round Rock outlets and shopped all afternoon while Josh got some work done.

Around 6:00, we checked into the hotel and changed to head to a Round Rock Express baseball game.

We had great seats and enjoyed being able to watch the game, eat ballpark food and just walk around together!

Wednesday morning, we slept in and Josh went into the office for a few hours.  I decided to stay at the hotel and take my time getting ready and drinking coffee.

Then we ate lunch at Pei Wei and headed back soon after.  I was ready to see my girls but always enjoy my time with just Josh.  It was much needed!
