When Josh and I moved into our current house two years ago, we both felt like it would be a temporary move, we just didn't realize at the time just how "temporary" it was going to be. Our home is wonderful and we are extremely blessed, but we've both always desired to build. Josh has drawn house plans for us probably since we married and it was always something we prayed over; the timing and if it even needed to happen at all. Around Thanksgiving last year, we were looking at a plat of the new lots they just opened in the back of our subdivision. I had a thought about building but didn't mention it to Josh right away. It was really just a passing thought, not sure that it would ever really happen. Well a few weeks later Josh mentioned the same thing and we began to look at the plat again. We were drawn to the same street, the same lot. Again, we didn't really pursue it at the time but the thought just kept coming back. The new lots in our subdivision are already owned by builders and you have to contact them to build. It just so happened that a good friend of Josh's was the builder who owned the lot. Josh met with him and even though we both felt like it was a long shot, doors kept opening and things kept falling in to place making it a real possibility. Josh and I continued praying. The Lord continued to confirm in both of our hearts in different ways that this was the next step for our family. We were excited and anxious about pulling the trigger and actually saying "yes, we are going to do this". In March, we put our house on the market and began waiting. It took 3.5 months to sell and when it sold, things moved quickly! The buyers needed a quick closing and to complicate things, we were already planning on being in Galveston the day they chose for closing, the 16th. So, we knew we had about two weeks to pack, find a rental, and move out before we actually closed.
All that to say.....we just moved!
Our last night in our house and I wanted to document it:)
The next morning, Friday the 13th, the movers came around 7:45 and got to work. The girls ate a quick breakfast...
Things went smoothly and we were ready to sleep in the duplex Friday night!
A little play time before bed...
We told Macy when we moved to the duplex, we would convert her bed to an "open bed". She was SO excited! After her bath, she took off down the hall and said "Goodnight Mommy and Daddy! See you in the morning!"
She fell out of bed that first night around 3:00. When we got in there she said "I hurt myself. I fell on my Thomas mat." She went right back to sleep and has done great since then. She calls out for us in the morning and after nap and she still loves that she is sleeping in an open bed.
Eden ready for her first night in the duplex
Macy's got a great size room at the duplex so we've got all of her toys and Eden's in there. Eden's room is doubling as storage and only has her crib and dresser. And about 20 boxes and other miscellaneous things!
We are enjoying the duplex and we're excited to break ground soon!
