Since Eden has changed SO much the last few months, I think it's been harder for me to see that Macy has as well. She's always been so independent that sometimes I overlook just how much she has grown up lately.
James Dobson's "The Strong-Willed Child" has been on my reading list for several months now. I see so many strengths in Macy, but some of those very strengths have made the toddler years...difficult. She would much rather figure something out than have you show her; she desperately needs to finish a task even if you are requesting her attention elsewhere; and she gets frustrated when a skill doesn't come easily. But at the same time, she's driven, independent, strong and most definitely a leader. She always has a plan and it would make her life so much easier if everyone else would just get on board:)
I love how much joy Macy gets from the little things. A birthday party for Piglet or one of her dolls; making something together in the kitchen; a new craft idea; a kids meal toy; or a rock she finds on the ground and adds to her collection. She has also recently enjoyed organizing "concerts" for her and Eden to perform before bedtime. She loves life.
She's also surprisingly my home-body. While she loves getting out for a playdate, she would prefer we scrap any errands we have and just stay home and play. She could entertain herself for hours just playing with her toys. Her favorite toys right now are her toddler dolls. She changes them, lays them down for naps and takes at least a handful of them in the car anytime we go somewhere. Naptime has gradually been morphing into room time and she's perfectly content just playing quietly in her room. She still naps 2-3 times a week for the most part, but I'm fine with her just doing room time.
She is excited about starting dance but she also loves getting out in the yard every night and playing soccer or racing with Daddy. She's very coordinated and I will be curious to see what direction she goes with the extra-curriculars. She's also so anxious to learn and has said several times she's ready to know how to read. We are going to start working on some school things this year.
I love Macy's initiative. So many days she will get Eden dressed because she knows she struggles getting her shirts on. She will also fix water cups for both of them and has been known to "fix" breakfast on occasion.
She continues to mention Sadie and is drawn towards babies in public. She's always very gentle and loving and just lights up when she gets to interact with one.
I can't believe how big my big girl is becoming. In the midst of the discipline, I am trying so hard to enjoy these days with her. She is such a light!
A page in the Children's bulletin that she figured out on her own
Making pictures for her friends. Anna and Elsa and then a lollipop for the little brother...
I found her reading in Sadie's room one day...
She is loving her hair long right now!
