I can't believe my Macy-girl will be starting Kindergarten this fall! She is more than ready. There is just something about that first-born, driven personality! She approaches things head on and will not give up until she figures it out. We are so excited to see her grow academically!
If I had a nickel for every time I posted on this blog about Macy being strong-willed… But each time I do these updates on the girls, she is still just as strong-willed as the post before ;-) We continue to pray for the Lord's wisdom and STRENGTH as we train our Macy-girl. We know what a blessing this personality will be for her all her life. She is and will continue to be a leader. It still cracks us up to see her take control of a group of kiddos. However, at this age it comes across more as bossiness and less as leading!
Macy has done SO WELL with Kate. She really has exceeded our expectations in her role as big sister. She is so gentle and patient with Kate and I am positive Kate responds to her in a way she doesn't to anyone else. It will be such a neat relationship to watch! We have Macy sitting in the middle of the car now next to Kate and she will put her paci in and talk to her when she gets fussy. She loves holding her and kissing her.
Lately Macy has been more in a "comfy" phase. She still loves dresses, but she also loves wearing shorts and a t-shirt (she gets that honest!) She likes to accessorize like Eden and is really wanting her ears pierced (not gonna happen right now!) She found a way to create an earring out of a hair band with balls on it. I actually thought it was very creative! She continues to be our sneaky one and we are constantly preaching honesty and trust-worthiness. She really likes to experiment with her hair (not cutting it thank goodness!) but putting gels, hair spray and just water in it along with every clip she can find. Her experimenting is starting to pay off because she can actually pull her hair up by herself now. She's also our hoarder and tries to sneak things she finds on the ground into the car and ultimately into her room… "No, Macy, you cannot keep that plastic ring you found in the BATHROOM at WALMART!?"
She loves carrying a purse mainly because she can fit an unlimited amount of toys in it which means they come in the car with her. Her favorite toys continue to be her magic clip princesses and dolls.
She has taken off in her swimming this summer. In Galveston, she taught herself how to dive to pick up toys. Her biggest difficulty for Mommy and Daddy is overconfidence ;-) She is constantly having to be reminded that she still needs help!
So far our girls have not been picky eaters. Macy especially loves fruits and veggies. She will eat lettuce by itself and loves tomatoes. She would eat fruit all day if she could.
Her nap time has officially moved to room time and she really enjoys playing in her room. On occasion she will still nap, but it's rare. And as busy as she is during the day, her little body just collapses at night and she has no problems getting to sleep! She always asks Josh two questions when we are putting them in bed…"Daddy will you come if I have a scary dream" and "Where's Lexi?" (Sometimes Lexi is underneath her bed and we don't realize it) Then she wants to do her "I love you" sign language to both of us. She's been sleeping pretty late lately, usually 8:30ish.
We've always said that Macy is our social one and she really does do a good job of talking with people. In fact, we usually have to pull her away. She will begin recounting everything she can remember that might possibly relate to the conversation at hand (and she remembers everything!)
Some of my favorite words she says are "fromember" instead of "remember". "Probrem" instead of "problem". "Plush" instead of "blush". She is SO verbal. It really is like talking to a teenager!
Macy's comments about Sadie are things I'm not always able to emotionally respond to, but I treasure in my heart. Sometimes I just have to manage a smile even when words fail me to acknowledge what she said. I have heard her tell people on numerous occasions, "I have 3 little sisters, but only 2 that I take care of." And just this morning we were having a sweet family moment walking through the house. Josh was carrying Kate, I was carrying Eden and we told Macy she could carry Lexi. Instead, she said "If Sadie were here, I would be holding her hand because she would be 1." And the sweet picture that brought to my mind of her holding Sadie's hand overwhelmed me. How we long to see that. She asked several times throughout Kate's pregnancy, "Will we bring this baby home?" What joy to see Macy's face when she first met Kate! I'm so thankful for Macy's heart being inclined towards Sadie. I want so much for us as a family to honor and remember Sadie and Macy does that so naturally. It is sweet and innocent. She was definitely made to be the BIG sister.
Macy-girl, you are the LIGHT of our rowdy, pink crew! You are strong and independent, but you still have a tenderness that shines through at times. You are goofy and fun-loving, sassy (!) and smart, driven and diligent. You make us smile and pray :-) We love you, Macy!
