KK has had a busy summer, growing and changing every day! She is full on running now to keep up with sisters and climbing on everything in sight. At her 15 month check in May, she was 18 lbs 8 oz (13%) and 29.5 inches (17%). At her 18 month, she was 20 lbs (16%) and 2 feet 6 inches (6%). She has gained 5 lbs since her one year visit and really seems so much older. It's amazing how fast they lose the "baby".
She still blows our minds in what she comprehends. We can pretty much tell her anything and she understands. Verbally, she is saying quite a bit as well. Unfortunately her favorite words right now are "no, stop and mine". But she also says mama, daddy, all her family members names, cup, milk, stuck, please, baby, puppy, ouch, ball, and bow. She says bye and waves so sweetly and blows big kisses. She also gives sweet kisses. One of my favorite things she says is "Tank Oooo" (thank you) and she says it anytime you hand her something. Precious!
She still naps occasionally in the morning if we are home and if she woke up earlier that day. Many days this summer, she slept until after 9:00 so we would just do an afternoon nap those days. She will nap 3 hours in the afternoon and she's ready for bed around 8:00. She is so easy to lay down and still prefers Mommy at times when she's sleepy. But she has gotten to where Daddy can rock her as well. She still sleeps with her Marie and at least 2 pacis.
She's a good little eater and loves bananas, breakfast bars, yogurt, grapes, turkey, string cheese, chicken, tomatoes, guacamole, baked potatoes, and pizza. Her favorite snacks are cheerios, cheezits, club crackers and animal crackers.
She has such a sweet spirit about her and loves giving "tight hugs". She has gotten attached to her Sunday School teacher Mr. Otis and is usually rocking with him when we pick her up. Her new thing is saying "mmm hmmm" instead of yes. So we will ask her "Do you love Mr. Otis?" and she says "mmm hmmm." She uses it in context when we ask her questions because a lot of times she will answer "no". She tells us when her diaper is wet or dirty and if we ask her if it is, she will respond yes or no accordingly.
She has a pretty sensitive spirit like Eden and cries if she gets her feelings hurt. However, she is pretty tough when it comes to physical "ouchies". She rarely cries unless she really hurt herself.
I can easily say that life these past 18 months with KK here has been so full of joy and laughter for our family. She makes us smile a hundred times a day and I still watch her and think about how often I prayed for her to be healthy and STRONG. The Lord reminds me daily of that prayer when He shows me just how strong she is :-) We tend to make girls with strong little personalities but I wouldn't have it any other way. She is a precious gift and we are cherishing each new phase and season with her.
We love you KK!
