Eden - 20 months

Eden Joy's little personality continues to blossom and she is seeming so much older to us now!  Her vocabulary is still exploding and she is talking in some sentences now.  Love hearing her sweet voice.

One new development is her relationship with Lexi, our dog.  She adores Lexi and will absolutely come unglued if Josh or I raise our voice at her.  She sobs!  One night, Josh was trying to get Lexi to come in from outside and she wasn't cooperating.  Eden walked over to the door and said "-Exi, COME!"  And Lexi did.  They are little buddies now:)

She loves to dip her food and her favorite dips are ketchup and BBQ sauce.

I can't remember if I've blogged about this or not but she will say (very emphatically) "OH MY!"  "OH NO!" "OH MAN!"  We can be in the middle of a restaurant and she will bust out with "OH MY!!"  It usually occurs after she spills something on herself or drops her spoon.

Both of the girls love playing with dominos right now.  And Eden's in the phase where she actually enjoys picking up, so she loves to put all the dominos back in the box.

She is very kind-hearted and especially loves her cousin Nathan.  She will pat him and bring him his paci.  She'll also crawl so she can be down on the floor like him.  Also, if she takes a toy away from someone and we ask her to give it back, she does.  She will bring Piglet to sister multiple times a day because she knows he's Macy's baby.

When we address a behavioral issue with Eden and we say, "Do you understand?" (like we do with  Macy), she says, "Uh-stannd."

She is still very shy (and will even say "I shy") but she has really come out of her shell.  She will say hi to anyone we pass.  And she says "Bye!  MMMWAH!"  So sweet...

She finally outgrew those little pink sneakers, and had to wear Macy's princess ones...

Macy took this picture of her...

Macy-isms

Macy girl has us rolling on the floor laughing multiple times a day.  That kid says the funniest stuff!  Every now and then I try to write some of them down just to remember the things that she comes up with.  I can't even remember a time when this child didn't talk...

  • Honesty has been a big learning trait lately.  For example, when we hear Eden screaming and Macy has that look on her face.  Well, the other day we were outside and this incidence occurred.  Josh said "Macy, can you tell us what happened?"  And she just froze.  No confession or recount of what just went on.  Josh said "Macy, we just want you to be honest with us.  We know sometimes things happen on accident." And Macy's reply, "Yes.  And sometimes we know things happen on purpose."  There's the honesty we were looking for:)
  • One Saturday night, Josh was hanging something in his storage closet in the garage.  The closet shares a wall with Macy's bedroom so she was having a hard time going to sleep due to the noise.  So, I went in and laid with her.  She was so precious.  At one point she said, "Mommy, put your hand under my pillow.  It's cold under there!"  This cracked me up because I do the same thing!  And, as most of you know, Macy is our independent, active one.  So, I started scratching her back, trying to just savor the moment with her.  And she said, "Why you itchin' me??"  :)  Eden is by far, our touchy and affectionate one!
  • We went with Josh to Dallas for an overnight trip a few weeks ago and we were eating at an Olive Garden.  I was sitting by Macy and Josh said, "I sure would love to sit by my Macy girl."  And Macy said, "Daddy, you have to be grateful for where you're sitting."  Can you tell we've been working on having a grateful heart?!
  • This same trip, the girls were sleeping in the same room at the hotel.  At first there were lots of giggles and Mommy having to go in a few dozen times to reinforce the need for sleep.  It was a rough night.  The girls were both coughing and sick, and they kept waking each other up.  On top of that, their alarm clock in their room went off at 4AM!?  So, when they started waking up at 7 after being up several times that night, Daddy and I just laid in bed listening to them.  Eden started saying, "Puppy!  Puppy!" and Macy said, "Go back to sleep Eden.  Lexi's at home."
  • She was playing with her Magna-tiles one day and I heard her say, "Eden come here and help me build the Tower of Babel!  It's probably been almost a year since we read that story in her Storybook Bible!
  • She's convinced she is in ballet lessons with her cousin Mallory.  So the other day she told Eden, "I'm gonna teach you ballet..."
  • She told me one day at lunch, "Mommy, you gotta start drinking water."  So true...
  • She says, "This is really fun you know!"
  • One night when we were laying her down, she said, "Mommy, I gotta tell you something."  "Ok.  What is it?"  "It's a surprise.  I'll tell you tomorrow.  (pause) But it's pink."  :)
  • After we made Daddy's cake she asked about candles.  I told her we didn't have any and she said, "That's ok Mommy.  Maybe we can get some sticks outside and stick them in there."
  • One of her favorite things to do right now is change clothes.  Multiple times a day!  It wears me out!  She will say "I got hot."  Or "Those clothes weren't comfy".  Or "I just needed to wear a pretty dress." :)
Love this girl.  She is the light of our lives for sure:)

It's never good when they're quiet...

Candyland in the Cave

One night last week, we had a family game night.  Macy wanted to play Candyland (her favorite) so we thought it would be fun to set it up in her cave.  The girls loved this!

It's tight with all four of us, but it was a lot of fun!  We also realized while we were in there that it would make a pretty good storm shelter!

Pink Toes

Macy loves having her nails painted, so when she asked the other day, we decided to do Eden's too.  Daddy painted Macy's feet and hands, and Mommy did Eden's feet.

Turned Around

Since we had the carseats out of the car while we were moving things, we decided when we put them back in we would go ahead and turn Eden around.  Saturday night, we left Macy with Grammy and Pops and took Eden with us to pick up dinner.  We had Macy's car seat in the car, but not Eden's, so she rode forward-facing in Macy's for the first time.

Her little face was precious!  She was just taking everything in and smiling...

Then we got her carseat back in the car and she thought she was something else!

My big girl!!

Last and First

Thursday, January 31st was our last night in the duplex:

Friday morning, we woke up early and started loading up our cars and trailer.  The movers were coming around lunch so we were trying to get everything other than big furniture out of their way.  The next 48 hours were a blur!  Thanks to lots of help from our families, we were (almost!) completely moved by Friday evening.  And considering we had a storage building full of stuff (and things at both of our parents houses), that was a big task!  We spent the first night at our new house on Friday and went back to the duplex Saturday morning to get the last little bit of stuff and clean up before we handed the keys over to the landlord that evening.

The girls all ready to sleep in their new rooms Friday night:

Josh and I laid in bed Friday night, and although we were exhausted, we were almost too excited to sleep.  It was so surreal to actually be in our new home.  The 7 months in the duplex will always be a neat chapter that we look back on, but we were overjoyed to begin making this house our home.  God is good and we are so thankful!

Macy made moving interesting for us because on Thursday night, she began a 36 hour stomach bug:/  Bless her heart, I felt so bad for her.  By Saturday afternoon, she seemed to be over it but we kept her home from church the next day.  We were also bathing the girls separate, so our "first bath together in the new house" picture came a few days after we moved in:)

Washing each others hair...

The boxes are gradually decreasing and it's looking more and more like a home each day.  It's against my nature, but I decided to really take my time and not kill myself trying to get it "perfect".  We want to enjoy the process!
