17 Months

Eden Joy turned 17 months right before Thanksgiving!  I still feel like that 12-18 month phase involves so many changes: verbally and physically, it's something new everyday!  Eden, you are still so busy and into everything!

It's definitely "that time of the year" because you are just getting off an antibiotic for your 3rd ear infection.  Anytime you wake up during the night and you're unable to console yourself back to sleep it means ear infection.  Thankfully though, after that first night, you seem to be fine and bounce back quickly.

You are cutting your bottom molars now, your top ones are in.  Teething does seem to make you more irritable...

You are still a great sleeper and eater.  By 8:00, you're ready to head to bed!  And not a peep until 7:30ish usually.  However, we discovered last night just how attached you are to your Roo.  Apparently, Roo is laying on the floor somewhere in Grapevine Mills mall because we did not get home with him last night.  When we tried to lay you down, you lost it!  Sobbing and screaming "Baby!  Baby!"  It broke my heart.  Any other thing we would try to hand you would just make it worse and you would swat it away.  So, thankfully, cousin Garrett also has a little Roo and he agreed to let us borrow it until your new Roo comes in on Thursday.  Daddy went to get it last night and your little face just lit up!  Then, you were asleep within a minute.  Little stinker!

You are talking so much now!  You love listing all the family members' names that you've mastered and you can repeat (or attempt to repeat) anything we say.  You continue to follow directions well though and you get very proud of yourself when you do what we ask.  However, since you still can't communicate effectively, you've reverted back to screaming to get our attention.  It just started a few weeks ago and Daddy and I are working on it!  Unfortunately for you, the "too young to discipline" boat has sailed away and we are really trying to be consistent:/

Words you say pretty well:
Mommy
Daddy
Sister (tis-ter)
baby
Roo (ooo)
cup
shoe
please (peeze)
cheese (cheeeeeze)
 more (mo)
Nana
Papa
Pops (puh)
Grammy (mammy)
Mandy (mee-mee)
Jack (-ack)
Bryce (ice)
outside (ott-suh)
puppy
quack quack
hi and bye
thank you (t-too)
All gone
mine (unfortunately sister taught you this a few weeks ago!)

You also like to come around the corner, put your hands on your knees and say "Boo!" like you've scared us:-)  Then you get tickled and run off and do it again.

You also play "Where's Eden?" and cover your eyes with your hands.

You are a big Daddy's girl and will ask for him all during the day.  If I open the door to the garage you will come around the corner saying "Daddy!?!"

Baby dolls continue to be your favorite toy and you really try to feed them and change them.  It's sweet to see you attempting to be nurturing!

You continue to be my extremely affectionate child and will come over to me at all times of the day just for a quick hug or kiss.  It absolutely melts my heart and it's one of my favorite things about your sweet personality.  Anytime I am kneeling down cleaning something or picking something up, you will come up behind me and try to climb up my back.

You do have a bit of a temper and will scream if sister takes a toy away from you or if you don't get your way.  You also HATE getting your face wiped:/

Sweet little girl, what a light you are to this family!!

Love those 3 cuties at church :)
The roo story cracks me up. Ethan's attached to his puppy and you CAN NOT fool them! It's BAD NEWS if we ever lose that thing!!!
