Macy Update

It's really hard to believe that Macy has a half year of Kindergarten under her belt.  To say it has flown by is an understatement!  And it's crazy to me how much older she seems now that she has started school.  So far, the tooth fairy has visited twice and this whole loosing teeth thing makes her look different as well!  I really am enjoying seeing Macy grow and mature and I love the conversations we have now.

She has taken off academically and is starting to read and sound out words.  She is so motivated to learn that she continues to pick things up quickly.  She's also still our numbers girl and we continue to see proof that she has her Daddy's engineer brain.  Our neighbors had a line of trash bags on the curb the other day and as we were driving by I tried to count them and ended up just guessing there were 12.  Macy piped up from the backseat and said "No, Mommy.  There's 11.  I counted them earlier."  It cracked me up, but didn't surprise me :-)

She still loves dressing up, playing with her dolls, coloring, arts and crafts, and putting on concerts.  Her bed has become pretty crowded at night with all her "babies", but Piglet continues to be the one that must be present.  She's also really into Lego's and it's pretty impressive how she can follow the directions and construct them herself.  Playing outside is another favorite activity of hers.  The girls will entertain themselves in their castle for hours and just recently, Macy taught herself to skate.  She received skates last Christmas but after watching Inside Out and seeing Riley play hockey, she discovered a new determination to teach herself so that she could play hockey too.  I lost track of how many times she fell, but she would pop up and say "I'm ok, Mommy".  She was on a mission to learn.  I even started telling her to take a break because she was worn out and had fallen so many times, but she responded "Mommy, I'm doing perseverance!"  Can't argue with that!  It literally took 2 or 3 afternoons and she pretty much had it figured out.  On the second outing she told me, "Mommy, I know how to skate now.  Can you sign me up for hockey?"  Her determination is one of my favorite things about her.  She still falls occasionally but has improved greatly.  She pushed herself so hard the first afternoon that she cried out during the night because her legs were hurting.

She continues to confirm how competitive she is, and family game nights often end with us having a "talk" about her attitude and being happy for others.  And just having fun!  Our favorite games with Macy right now are Monopoly Empire and Golf with cards.

Definitely our outgoing one, she continues to thrive in social situations and I love hearing her talk about her school friends.  She really has a sweet group of buddies and from what she says, she pretty much bounces around and plays with everyone.  School has really gone better than we could've ever imagined.  Macy goes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we have at-home days on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  She gets her work done quickly at home and I love that she and Eden still get that time together.  It's been a huge blessing for our family!  She's also really enjoying her piano lessons and I hope she keeps it up.

Josh and I continue to pray for her heart, that nothing would hinder her from coming to know the Lord. She is so intellectual; we know she already knows all the right answers.  She knows the gospel.  We are waiting and praying for the Spirit to move and call in His timing.  We have had some really neat conversations with her and it's amazing to hear how she responds to certain questions.  We were listening to the song "Jesus, Son of God" ("He took our sin; He bore our shame; He rose to life; He defeated the grave; a love like this; the world has never known")  the other night and Josh asked her what that song means.  She said "He did everything to save us."  We've also been talking to her about choices; right or wrong.  Josh asked her if she ever has a thought before she's about to do something she knows she shouldn't.  She said yes and he asked her what that means.  She said "It means to stop and think about what God would want me to do."  It's amazing to hear how she processes things.

Macy is such a light.  We are so very thankful for her.
