Fifth Generation

Macy is blessed to be a fifth generation on my dad's side. My great-grandmother, Mammaw, is 97. Her family has grown to over 50 people and we all enjoy getting together for Thanksgiving and Christmas in Mammaw's little two bedroom house. After we eat, my Mimi plays the piano and we all sing together. I love watching Mammaw sing "When We All Get to Heaven". She knows every word. Yesterday, we went to Palestine for a visit.

Macy is a wiggle-worm, but she sat in Mammaw's lap for at least 15-20 minutes. It was precious!

Weekly Recap

It has been a crazy week! I will try to sum it up in one post.....

Sunday night, we had Josh's family over for burgers and water toys. The kids had a blast!

Macy enjoyed modeling her swimsuit outside of the water rather than in it! First, we tried standing in the water....

Then, we thought we would sit on the side with our feet in...

However, with one little splash, we realized this water was a lot colder than bathtime water...

And we were much more content on the porch...

Watching with Papa...

Our cousins, however, loved it! Grant enjoyed running and diving into the splash ground...

I think this is the only picture I got of the four of them...

Grant and Micah (or as we called him "Keeper of the Water Guns")

I love Jack's face in this one (Micah still has the 3 water guns)...

It was a fun night. Josh cooked some delicious hamburgers and we ended the night taking a group walk around our new neighborhood.

Monday morning, we woke up and decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Dallas. Josh needed to be there early Tuesday morning, so we thought it would be easier on him to drive up Monday night. It was a quick trip, but we had fun!

Sleeping...she has her hand gripped around the crib rails...this is also her favorite corner of the bed. No matter where we lay her down, she migrates towards this corner...

"Da-Da"

If you've ever been around Macy, you know that she "talks" all the time. I love listening to her coo and babble; I even enjoy those high-pitched shrieks that she is famous for. But the last few days, she has said only one thing over and over: Da-da! While we are probably assuming a lot to think that she actually knows what she is saying, she does seem to say it more when she sees Josh. It's pretty obvious she is already a Daddy's girl and he is definitely okay with that! It's precious to see how excited she gets when he comes home from work.

Yesterday, Josh was on one of his Sports Reach trips. 4 or 5 times a year, Josh and his other team members visit a prison and play softball with the inmates. He was very tired last night when he got home and both of his girls were happy to see him! (I was pretty happy to see him too!)

Feels Like Home

Well, we are all moved in and so thankful! It has been a crazy few days, but so worth all the work. We could not be happier to be in our new home.

Here we are leaving our old house for the last time. Yes, my eyes are red. Yes, I had been crying. And, YES, Josh and I look exhausted! It had been a long two days of manual labor (more for Josh since Macy required a lot of my attention!)

There you are!

Thank you for sharing in our excitement during this fun time!

Moving Day

After a few delays with our closing date, we are finally closing tomorrow and get to move into our new house! We are so excited!

Our current house has been special to us for many reasons and it will be hard to leave for the last time (not to be overly dramatic, but it will!) Josh owned this house when we met and he had put A LOT of hard work into it. I was blessed to reap the benefits of his hard work when we married in June of 2006. And obviously one of the sweetest memories is decorating Macy's nursery together and bringing her home from the hospital. I truly do LOVE this house. I've taken pictures of every room so I can remember every detail years from now.

6 months old and no longer the baby!

Yesterday, Macy turned 6 months old and celebrated by welcoming her newest cousin, Gavin, into the family! We got to the hospital at 2:30 and sweet Gavin arrived at 5:45.

Macy took her afternoon nap at the hospital

Meeting Gavin

I have been wanting to get this on video for a while. This is Mallory making Macy laugh. All she has to do is walk towards her and Macy loses it!

Joined the Team

I've joined the team! The team of motherhood, that is!
What a blessing it is to be Macy's mommy and celebrate our first Mother's Day together. At times it is still surreal to me that she's here and she's mine. Being a mommy is all I've ever wanted to do!

Sunday was especially special because we participated in the Parent Commitment Service at our church. Standing in front of our church family, we promised to raise Macy in a home that loves Jesus and teaches her His truth. What an amazing calling! What an amazing privilege!
Here's Macy and Daddy before the service....

Macy and Mommy - yes, we match:-)

We asked Macy if she was ready to go on stage and she raised her hand

Family pic

In the meantime, we are still eating our cereal and LOVE IT! The child kicks her legs and waves her arms when she sees that little bowl and spoon coming towards her. She goes to the doctor on Friday for her 6 months, so we will probably begin fruits and veggies after that.

One last pic:-)
Daddy typically does bathtime around our house and when I get my little girl back, this is what she looks like!

Daddy loves giving her a mohawk! The nurses gave her one in the hospital after her first bath and Josh loved it! We can tell her hair is getting longer because her mohawk is getting higher!

We are so thankful for this precious gift! If you've ever seen Josh and I out and about we are typically fighting about who get's to hold her! We just can't get enough!!

I hope your Mother's Day was blessed!
